Steep NE-facing slope on both sides of very small ephemeral creek. Pinus ponderosa emergent over Quercus kelloggii and Quercus wislizeni. Dense understory is mostly Heteromeles arbutifolia. Forest floor is thick pine needle duff with oak leaves. A well-used trail cuts through stand at lower end. Stand is rocky with Gabbro(?) bedrock. One large Douglas fir in stand, in the part of the stand that faces more northerly. Stand faces the American River. Herb layer very sparse. Some open spots are cleared near trail.
