Location Narrative ? This band is towards the top of the ridge where soil is probably deeper and moisture more plentiful because of the cliff above. Although mostly grass, this stand has some Toxicodendron diversilobum, unlike the bands of herbs on the thin volcanic soil. Burned shrubs appear here and there in this stand. I am unsure if this is management or natural. The Toxicodendron diversilobum are young but most have decadent stems above, perhaps from the fire.
