This stand is a narrow riparian band along an intermittent creek (1-2 m wide). There is some trash here, i.e., a chair and post, but the trail to it is completely grown over with chaparral. It is too dense in the understory to travel far downstream and it is probably fed by a spring just upstream of the stand as the water and creek bed disappear altogether.
