Big Chico Creek ER, California State University Chico: A diverse stand of banded chaparral on Tuscan formation on the E side of the canyon. Quercus berberidifolia and Ceanothus cuneatus are highest in cover, though manzanita is co-dominant in scattered patches. Overall, the stand is very diverse and very dense in the shrub layer. The herb layer is minimal.
