A short tree/shrub woodland of mixed short stature blue oak and large juniper with scattered buck brush and emergent gray pine. The stand is situated on the boulder strewn, steep, S-facing slope of Battle Creek Canyon. The herb layer is fairly typical non-native annual grassland.
