Wurlitzer Ranch lies in both Tehama and Butte Counties. This is a stand of Quercus douglasii savannah that consists of short, widely spaced to clustered trees. This type of stand repeats on the ridges and upper slopes of this property quite frequently. The understory in open areas has high cover of natives while areas under canopies are dominated by non-natives, especially grasses and Erodium. The soil is very thin and oak growth rate appears to be very slow. No oak seedlings observed in the stand.
