Location Narrative |
Wurlitzer Ranch lies in both Tehama and Butte Counties. Small riparian stand of incense cedar and canyon live oak on the south bank of Pine Creek. There is a dense understory of Cornus, Calycanthus, and Umbellularia. This is a distance survey from across the creek, as the creek is not crossable for a long stretch near the stand. A fire in 1991 may have burned the understory.

Observation Narrative |
The herbaceous layer was only seen from about 10 m away. There are many species which are essentially co-dominant in the overstory.
