Big Chico Creek ER, California State University Chico: A fire burned through this stand in 1999. This is a mature, even-aged stand of Quercus chrysolepis with some Quercus chrysolepis regeneration and shaded-out, dead Arctostaphylos viscida in the understory. There is a fence line running through the stand. This property was grazed up until 5 years ago for the past 150 years. There is very little understory due to recent fire.
