Landscape Narrative ? Wet flatwoods with Pinus serotina (40 feet, 3-8" dbh) open canopy. Serenoa repens (4 feet tall), Ilex glabra, and Lyonia lucida (4-6 feet) dominate the closed low-shrub stratum. Ground covered with leaf litter. Thick duff indicates lack of recent fire. Gordonia lasianthus and Persea palustris (10-20 feet) occur as widely scattered young trees. Lyonia fruticosa and Befaria racemosa are occasional shrubs. Low diversity.
