Observation Narrative
This ridge is privately held by several landowners. Locals familiar with its history say that deer were extremely abundant in the past, causing overbrowsing, but now populations are reduced from those levels. Gypsy moths also hit the area hard in the last decade or so, which may account for why forest canopy is more open and devoid of oaks than would be expected in some areas.
