Take Hwy 49 to Cool; turn off into SRA just before stores in Cool. Walk along road to trail that follows creek. Walk up the creek on the north side of the creek. This Nassella stand sits in the transition zone between a valley oak stand and a Rubus stand along Knickerbocker Creek. The stand is wet now but will dry out soon. Annual grasses and Carex fill spaces between the large, well-developed, old-growth Nassella bunches. There is a slight depression in the middle of the plot. Water is only in the depression and the lower edge of stand. A trail passes near but not through the stand.; This site was once a working ranch. Now horses use trails however there is not much obvious disturbance.
