Location Narrative |
The stand is located in the northern most portion of the JS Ranch in an open blue oak savannah containing numerous hummocks, swales, and vernal pools. This plot is located on one of the hummocks and is meant to be the upland compliment to the "Vernally Wet Herbaceous" plot of JSRCH001. The vernal pools in the landscape were too phenologically early to sample at the time of this survey. The plot is currently dominated by Taeniatherum caput-medusae, and Hypochaeris glabra, but has many native herbs. The plot obviously had a high cover of Navarretia pubescens and Clarkia sp. last year, as there are many skeletons.; The site is actively grazed by cattle. The ranch currently has a conservation easement with the Shasta County Land Trust.
