This plot is located just south of Hogsback Rd in the very SW corner of the southern portion of the Denny Ranch, just to the east of the BLM in-holding. This plot is in a large stand of vernally moist herbaceous vegetation on the thin Tuscan formation volcanic soils of a plateau. The plot is dominated by Lasthenia, Layia, Vulpia, and other native forbs. The cover of Blennosperma is significantly less now than it will be in one to two weeks when the buds open up. The stand is quite large and fairly heterogeneous with respect to the micro-variation of which forbs dominate a particular spot.; This site is actively managed with grazing.
