Plot is south of Swede Creek on a volcanic plateau on the Hathaway Ranch. Plot consists of herbaceous vegetation dominated by Eleocharis sp. and Eryngium castrense growing in a vernal pool. The pool is in a shallow basin surrounded by Quercus douglasii. There are several other vernal pools (of varying depths) in the small area that contains the surveyed pool to which it is connected hydrologically. The pool is bordered by Vulpia microstachys alliance to the south. Other pools in the immediate vicinity were not sampled due to lack of time (it is the end of the day). This pool appears to be the deepest pool in this complex of vernal pools.; Active cattle grazing with many hoof prints in the plot.
