Stand is located on a rocky, dry, open, moderately steep, north-facing slope on the south side of a canyon which eventually leads down to a river drainage. Stand is very close to the northern-most boundary of the property. Vegetation is characterized by relatively dense Quercus douglasii of varying ages with emergent, young Pinus sabiniana and decadent/dying Arctostaphylos viscida. Herbaceous cover is extremely diverse with many native grasses and forbs. A. viscida appears to be dying due to old age. There are many dead branches in the stand.; This area is grazed and cattle were present up until one week ago. Grazing impact appears to be light.
