Location Narrative ? Stand is located in a seasonal, rocky creek bed roughly 10 m wide. It contains high cover of Marsilea vestita and Eleocharis macrostachya. Stand is located in a nearly flat valley in the SW corner of the Hathaway Ranch. Vegetation in the valley consists of open grassland with scattered blue oaks. There is still water in the creek which is flowing very slowly in a N-to-S direction. A very small portion of the margin vegetation, which varies in species composition, is included in the plot. The creek bed varies in width and water depth, but the substrate is consistently cobbly and the vegetation sampled in this survey repeats along the creek. There is considerable algae cover in the SE portion of the plot.; The area was actively grazed by cattle up until about a week ago. Grazing impact appears to be low but there is high bioturbation in some portions of the creek bed.
