Author Location ? Marion Canyon, Pinnacles Natl. Monument
Location Narrative ? Approximately 150 m SE from spike camp. Approximately 200 m NE from Marion Canyon. Grazing nearby and possible homesite nearby. Because of the stand's shape, it's possible this was an old road. The growth habit of the lichen in the soil crust makes the possibility of a road somewhat questionable. High percent of things other than nonnative grasses, could possibly be another Alliance. Plot is part of a small-moderate stand of open ground with a significant cryptobiotic soil crust layer and various non-native grasses and forbs. Quercus douglasii appears on the edges and, in some areas, in the middle of the stands. Small animal trail on edge of plot. Cattle grazing very close by.
