Location Narrative ? Between Chalone Creek and the intersection of South Wilderness Trail and Grassy Canyon road. Flooding. Surveys/stands where pines dominate are very sparse in the Monument. Pine is present in a moderate abundance in the Monument, and is consistenty present almost every other stand, especially oak woodland stands. Whether Pine occurs in a stand by itself is questionable. Ground is flat. Pine stand on flood plain just above channel bed. Several trees have fallen. deer scat and pig scat; NPS survey marker in plot "SE1/16, S1, 19, 75....LS 2550" (benchmark); also t-posts, large metal pipe, wooden stake with round metal top.
