Site is located approx. 30 m upstream from High Peaks View picnic area. (Formerly the "Pillars," or YACC site.) In main channel of Chalone Creek. Site underwent major flood in 1998 with restoration and stablization projects afterwards. Most recently, a weed removal project removed Hirschfeldia incana (and maybe Centaurea melitensis and/or C. solstitialis) as recently as early June. Plot is in dry creek bed of Chalone Creek. Area is under water in season. Plot is in part of creek that dries more quickly than adjacent areas upstream or down. Plot is very sparsely vegetated with a substrate of rounded cobbles and large-grained granitic gravel. Plot has already undergone removal of Hirschfeldia incana, but several plants have appeared in the interim.
