The stand is located about 100 m east of Hwy 146 and about 150 m south of the east side entrance meadow. The stand encompasses the open creekbed. The stand is surrounded by willow stands and Populus stands. Sandy Creek drains out of the Pinnacles Campground, therefore there are lots of weeds. The land was acquired by Pinnacles fairly recently (1970's?). Exact site history not known at this time. 100-year flood in 1998. The plot is situated in the center of the stand. The aspect, 180 degrees, is the direction of the major channel flows in the plot. The creek meanders through the bed. There are about four channels that are meandering and braided. The stand runs along various channels. Where the water direction has changed (the channel bed changes direction), the Baccharis are dying. Different soil (actual soil almost clay-like) around the shrubs. A lot of dead Artemisia dracunculus where channels have re-routed.
