The plot is located in the Spenceville Wildlife Area of the CDFG. The plot is about 300 m east of Pitman Road, about 1/2 mile from its intersection with Spenceville Road. The plot is immediately adjacent (to the west) to the Spenceville copper mine clean-up site. The plot is in a stand of Ceanothus cuneatus that is in a surrounded by California Annual Grassland. Other shrubs that occur sporadically in the stand but not in the plot include Rhamnus tomentella and poison oak.; The site is adjacent to the restoration area associated with the Spenceville copper mine. The extent of the impact of the restoration efforts on the stand is unknown to the observers.
