The plot is located in the pasture of the Rock Ranch about 120 m south of the ranch house and about 15 m east of the ephemeral creek running through the property. The stand is dominated by Zigadenus fremontii and Avena barbata. Fritillaria pluriflora is scattered through the plot as is Hesperevax caulescens.; The site is actively grazed by horses. The landowner says that the pasture/meadow was a Native American site as middens have been found on the property. The hydrology of the site may be altered by adjacent solar panel array and construction.

cited in Klein et al. 2007 as SNFN0032, Unusual species present: ~30 flowering Fritillaria pluriflora in plot, it is abundant but widely scattered in the pasture E of the creek. Hesperevax caulescens occurs on both sides of the creek and is abundant in the pasture. It sometimes co-occurs with F. pluriflora.
