Location Narrative ? Flyaway Gulch, Mariposa County, Bureau of Land Management. Open Ceanothus cuneatus shrubland covering large tract of land along ridge, east of Highway 49, and south of Schilling Road. Stand extends along ridge top and on east and west slopes of ridge. Pinus sabiniana and Juniperus californicus scattered throughout stand. Shrub canopy open with rich herbaceous layer. Many dead Ceanothus shrubs and many shrubs with high proportion of plant dead. Soil serpentinite.; Site history unknown but likely to have been grazed. May be current grazing lease.
