Stand is at base of northerly facing slopes in a band below mixed chamise chaparral. Low trees with multiple branches from base. Woodrats. Above stand is mixed chamise, Quercus berberidifolia, Rhus ovata. Quercus berberidifolia appears to be hybridizing with perhaps Q. engelmannii).
