Observation Narrative
Stands are found on hilly sites throughout the region, occurring more in depressions, it often alternateswith stands of the dwarfbirch-heath-lichens typeon exposed ridges, and with taller shrubs, especially willows in deeper draws. Mosses formed a layer over the ground and lichens were widely distributed but sparse. Snow layslater in these sites. Insome draws, where the snow does not melt until July, it appears meadow-like.
