Observation Narrative	Dryas integrifolia = In original Dryas integrifolia var. canescens. This stand, 2.0 miles NE of Umiat, was located on the S side of the crest of a ridge. The slope of the upper portion of the stand was 4 degrees and the lower portion 9 degrees. The site was dry with well-developed surface drainage consisting of channels that averaged 1 foot deep. The area was exposed to winds from all directions. Elongated mounds lying parallel with the direction of the slope were indicative of soil movement. There were frost scars on almostall mounds. The microrelief averaged 1 foot with a 2 foot maximum. The vegetation was essentially restricted to the channelsbetween the mounds and infrequently on the perimeters of the mounds. Entered by L.
