Wet flatwoods of Pinus serotina. Pinus elliottii has encroached into site. No ground cover disturbance observed here. Soil is wet, mucky substrate. Ground cover predominantly Aristida beyrichiana (large clumps, but none were flowering). Forbs present, but not in great numbers. Shrub layer mostly Ilex glabra and not very thick. Both P. elliottii and P. serotina are regenerating as present from seelings that have established. Question on how to restore site -- cut out all slash pine? No exotic plants observed. Recent fire has run through area based on fire scars on trees (2-3 years ago?).
