On the Cherokee Orchard Loop Rd., go past turn for Roaring Fork Motorcade. Pull off on second obvious pull-out on left and park. Head up west side of ridge across road. Plot is appx. 200 m from road.
No rocks at surface. Very little coarse woody debris. Litter layer 2-5 cm thickm entirely oak leaves. A and B soil samples collected. -- On SE side of ridge Pine Bark Beetle Kill area.

Only a couple of Pines in plot. Chestnut Oak dominated site, not as xeric as Scarlet O-Chestnut O. as on ridge to SE. Gaylusaccia forms a well developed low shrub stratum. The few herbs present were on old tip up mounds. Quite similar to plot 109.
