Park along 441 at quiet walkway on left past hairpin curve. Hike North to western ridge coming off Balsam Point. Plot is 1/4 mile NE of Knob marked 4486. Plot is 20m south of ridge.
Ridgeline has several rock outcrops that don't occur on slope which plot is in. To the east of plot 10-20 ft cliffs stair step down the slope from ridge. -- Shrub stratum varies across ridgeline. Rhodo.max., Kalmia, and Rubus occur in patches under Red Oak canopy. Below plot is Rich Cove Forest. Plot is placed in Carex penn. dominated patch.

First time sampling this community on this quad. Maybe different from rest in the region by having silverbell in it. low species diversity, but several species quite abundant.
