Landscape Narrative ? Top of southwest facing spur of cliff forming bedrock outcrop on lower mouintain slopes overlooking river. Community is sparse woodland/shrubland dominated by chestnut oak, white oak, virgionia pine and hackberry with shrub layer dominated by St. Johns wort and herbaceous layer with exotic grasses and forbs. -- Cliff zone appears to be have complex zonation of several small patch communities grading from this community on most exposed bedrock to stunted woodland and forest types on better developed (but still shallow) soils further uphill and away from rock outcrop.
