A and B soil sample collected...deep 75 cm and gravelly soil. -- This community is quite extensive in this local area. Uphill it grades to Hemlock and/or Spruce dominated sites.

Observation Narrative ? This polygon is largely dominated by Y.Birch, with occasional clumps of hemlock, which I prefer to view as stochastic variation within this community, rather than as a separate inclusional community within the YB. Plot placement illustrates YB dominance.
