Start at Rainbow Falls Trailhead. Walk approximately 1.5 miles on Rainbow Falls Trail. Look for a large chestnut oak just before a switchback in the trail. From the switchback, descend about 50 meters to the plot.
Undulating slope. Coarse woody debris is old and mostly decomposed. Somewhat sheltered slope with Big Ridge to the south and west. Moderately deep, rocky soil. -- Matrix community on this slope. Below and near creek hemlock community. More pine and heath on ridges above.
