Steep uneven slope over whole polygon. Trees perched with buttresses. Thick leaf litter. No soil sampled--too rocky. -- Polygon is uniform Yellow Birch-Hemlock, a small group of Spruce (<10cm dbh), not enough to go into a different alliance. Looks like more Hemlock across creek to the north (see photo # ).
wind/ice. Old Growth. A few logs down, uprooted trees in polygon. 2 standing dead Hemlock. Large trees up to 100 cm dbh. Steep slope therefore some treefalls.
