Observation Narrative ? A nice Spruce stand. No yellow birch present. Tough to distinguish R.cat. from R.max. Very depauperate herb stratum. Spongy litter layer. Uniform to nearly closed canopy. Buttressed Spruce which appear to have germinated on logs that are now gone.
