Bald is slowly converting to woodland. Pines and hardwoods are encroaching from the perimeter. Plot has several large trees, however it is predominantly herbaceous. -- Bald is not being maintained, and has obvious evidence of sucessional filling (to forest). Surrounding area is high elevation oak with a thick rhododendron shrub layer. Curious beech area higher up adjacent to this bald.
