Location Narrative ? Wind Cave National Park approx. 1.3 air miles SSE of junction of Hwy 87 and NPS 5/6. Park at Centennial Trailhead and hike south and somewhat west to first major drainage bottom - this is a tributary to Highland Creek, which it joins approx. 0.7 miles downstream. Plot located in broadest part of wetland which is a short distance upstream from the Centennial Trail crossing.

Landscape Narrative ? This wetland is vegetated predominantly with Spartina pectinata, but there are sizeable patches of Carex nebrascensis as well as small patches of other graminoids. -- Wetland is about 150 meters long; continues downstream as narrow zone along small creek; width is 5-20 meters. Adjacent prairie is Poa pratensis, and Schizachyrium scoparium, grading into PIPO/SCSH. Condition is excellent. This area is not heavily used by bison. Some Cirsium arvense in bottom downstream from wetland.
