Location Narrative ? In Wind Cave NP, take NPS 5 or 6 to crossing of Highland Creek. Park at Centennial Trailhead. Hike downstream on Highland Creek past bison corrals about 1/4 mile.

Landscape Narrative ? Heterogeneous vegetation streamside - found within 1.5 m of stream. Patches of Scirpus palustris, Eleocharis palustris, Rumex saliciformis, etc. Grades quickly away from stream to prairie vegetation. -- This occurrence includes Highland Creek from north park boundary (with Custer State Park) downstream to where the creek dries up most years (somewhere in the southern half of Sec. 17 - above Highland Creek Trail crossing). Condition is excellent - no weeds. Includes a stretch within the bison holding pens. This part was not surveyed. Condition rank = A.
