This assn. is present within the Fifty Mtn. Meadows area in places where snow accumulation is heavy and stays until later in the summer. Flowers are in full bloom in late August. Other, drier areas of this meadow support different species (LUZPAR, JUNDR

Soil is deep and well developed. Color is light brown with less than 10% rock. Roots penetrate about 2-3 inches. Area is very dry now but looks like it is very wet earlier with intermittent streams from steep slopes above.
