Younger forests of lodgepole are mixed with this assn., in big patches that are easy to see on the aerial photo. Some log cutting has taken place, a long time ago, but not enough to significantly alter community composition.
Soil is very gray with sligh orangish brown color. Gritty with high rock content. Many round cobbles. Deep duff (2 in). High clay content and may have ash present.
