Not a real large patch of this assn. It surrounds a spring-fed stream with more RUBPAR in the upland, drier habitats. Not much diversity in the understory. Looks like snow and water level keeps forb cover low most of season.
Soil is very dark (almost black) with almost no gravel and a little small rock (red argillite). Makes a good 1 in ribon and feels quite silty with very little loam.
