Location Narrative ? Hike from the Slide Lake Cabin toward Gable Pass. About 0.3 mi from Gable Pass the trail breaks out into a large boulder-field. Cut up through boulders to talus slope above. Plot runs across slope, just below where thicker trees start.

Observation Narrative ? This PICENG assn. is unusual, but quite prevalent on this talus slope. Some ABILAS seedlongs are establishing. PICENG age = 75 yrs. Much of PICENG forms shrubby krummholz. I have seen this mix of species north of here, in the Canadian Rockies.
