Site is probably saturated into mid-summer. Spruce and subalpine fir may be co-dominant here at climax, as both are reproducing. Downslope, in wetter areas, ALNVIR is thicker. Those areas are also more open (canopy).
Sandy clay loam. Soil has "bally" texture and is saturated just about 4 inches from surface. Just above plot the A horizon is same as just described, and B horizon is a reddish brown sandy loam. There is also a layer of charcoal below the A horizon.
