Location Narrative ? Overstory Quercus lobata is not rooted in stand but the branches shadow part of the Sambucus mexicana stand, so only those branches that shaded the stand were included in % cover estimates. Sambucus mexicana stand bordering slough off of China Creek. A solitary ~5 m tall Quercus lobata shades the center of the stand. There is a standing pool of water that the more dense S. mexicana encircle on the southern edge of the stand; this is where the Rubus discolor occurs as well. Some beaver activity nearby!
