San Joaquin River bends around peninsula, flowing from NE to SW. Pure stand of poppy located at end of peninsula. Dense stand occurs on stabilized sand that is covered with cryptogammic crusts. Surrounding soil is very loose sand. Population appears stable and has seeded and is dying. Spacing is uniform and consistent.
