Community Type: Pine Barrens savanna
From Reconnaissance Transect: 1) open pitch pine-oak woodland with large areas of exposed sand heather; 2) very narrow band of swamp - 10 Chamaecyparis, 25 pines, 15 nigra, 20 Vaccinium corymbosum (S2), 15 Leucothose, 30 Chamaedaphne (S3); 3) sedge savanna - Carex exilis, Cladium mariscoides, Rhynchospora alba, Chamaedaphne, Vaccinium macrocarpon; 4) Cladium dominated (releve plot is located here); 5) swamp - narrow, cedar-nyssa-pines-Vaccinium; 6) pitch pine upland; 7) river;
NOTE: S. pylaesii in sedge community at base of transect.;
Community Description: "Sea of Cladium in linear savanna bordered by sedge savanna and wet savanna."; Evidence of Community Processes: "wet, flooding, cold groundwater"; Species Composition and Biological Structure: "Even distribution of one dominant species."; Community Type = linear.
