Transect endpoints are permanently marked with rebar. Distance and compass bearing measurements to the plot location with measurements of plot orientation off the transect were taken. GPS coordinates for corners of the plot were taken with submeter accuracy.; Plot at 1-3m along transect on N side.

Soil Texture: Organic - muck; Mineral - sand
Soil profile 1 meter south of plot contains sand with white and orange quartz gravel chunk (1-4 mm), 7.5 YR 5/8;
Environmental Comments: ~40 tussocks, sedge tussocks 1-2.5" high (average 2"), approximately 5-12" diameter. This type is apporximately 14 m wide and 70 m long within this section of savanna.;
Hydrologic Influence: seepage rivulets, possible overland flow and/or backwater.

Community Type: Pine Barrens savanna
Community Description: "Tussocky graminoid savanna bordered by cedar swamp along the weatern bank of the Batsto River. Characteristic species include R. alba and R. olignatha with numerous additional graminoids, forbs and bryophyte species - very diverse; Other associated species present but not in plot: Xyris fimbriata in civinity (wet areas); R. oligantha/alba tussocks (3.5 sq m - 4 sq m). Evidence of bog lemmings (grass clippings, droppings), crayfish (chimney), raccoon and deer (tracks)
