General Landscape Description: Surrounding landscape was historically farmed, particularly the area on the W, which is now a scrubby successional forest. The area to the E is a rich calcareous forest on Dolomite outsrops, with park trails. This pond is hydrolically connected to Frog Pond.
Average pH of Mineral Soil: 6.5 (meter), 6.8 (blue and red).
Environmental Comments: Phalaris invading from center of pond.

Community Type: calcareous sinkhole pond
General Description: Stands are found in both minerotrophic basin wetlands as well as rivershores. Stands are dominated by Phalaris arundinacea, a 0.5- to 2-m tall perennial grass, which tends to occur in monocultures or associated with Calamagrostis canadensis. Associates in the glaciated Northeast include Viburnum nudum, Alnus incana or Alnus serrulata, Viburnum dentatum, and Agrostis gigantea.
Other associated species present but not in plot: Potamogeton nodosus.
