Community Type: Pine Barrens savanna (reverting from abandoned cranberry bog)
Community Description: Near upper edge at south corner. A small patch of Chamaecyparis thyoides has escaped forest fire that has burned much of the shrub and tree community that surrounds this bog. Some small cedars are invading this corner as well as a few small maples. Cladium mariscoides, Carex striata var. brevis and Sphagnum dominate this hummocky area. Soil is sand beneath Sphagnum and a little peaty muck. Bog has shallow internal ditches and vegetation becomes more hydric in the vicinity of the ditches.
