Community Type: paleodune / pitch pine woodland
Community Description: Shrubland dominated by Quercus marilandica and Gaylussacia baccata. A few small (<10 m) Pinus rigida are scattered throughout. Soil is white sand which is mostly covered by lichens and mosses where no vascular plants grow. The herbaceous layer is thin. Smilax appears shrub-like from severe browsing. Landscape is gently rolling. Paleodunes. No other disturbance.
