Community Type: tidal freshwater marsh
General Vegetation/Habitat Description: Fresh water tidal marsh along the N bank of Fish House Cove. Intertidal zone is dominated by Nuphar advena; higher marsh by Typha spp. including Typha x glauca, with some Scirpus fluviatilis and patches of Phragmites australis. Shore is partly gravel, partly mud. There is abundant water-borne trash, lumber, driftwood, tires and bottles, forming a deposit several feet deep along the high water line in several places. There does not appear to be any recent filling or ditching. Cove is on the Delaware River in a mostly built-up and industrial area, but access is difficult because of fencing along N edge and railroad tracks and steep bank along the southeastern edge.
